It appears Apple is working on more than just the Series 6 smartwatches in terms of wearables. Gadgets & Wearables has reported about both a budget and premium alternative to the regular smartwatches that Apple could be introducing to the world at an event in September. It seems there will also be an Apple Watch SE released at some point in the future and a new version of the Apple Watch Gold Edition.
Details of an Apple Watch SE have been shared by Komiya on Twitter. According to the tipster, the AW SE will replace the aging Series 3 watches and have the same price as the Apple Watch 3 (starting from US$199/£199 with more-expensive options available). Listed specifications for the Apple Watch SE include an S6 and W4 SoC, 16 GB storage, Bluetooth 5.0, and international SOS calling for the cellular model. In terms of looks, the AW SE will apparently have an “old design”, will be only available in aluminum, possibly offered in just 42 mm size, and it may have a digital crown that provides haptic feedback. The "cheap" Apple Watch SE could be released in March, 2021.
As for the new Apple Watch Gold Edition, some supposed images of the wearable have been leaked and posted by @L0vetodream. The images (see below) show a couple of interchangeable leather straps, a fancy case/charging box, and a side view of a gold watch on the inside of the box. Apple has released a limited edition gold smartwatch before, when an 18-karat variant cost from US$10,000. A figure of 190,000 yuan has been mentioned in connection with this latest device, which equals about US$27,460. Definitely not a purchase for the faint-hearted.
