OnePlus 13R unboxing video shows it won't come with a charger in the UK and EU, official site confirms it

It is less than 24 hours to the OnePlus Winter event during which the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R will be unveiled. The former already launched in China in late 2024 but will just be getting a global release, while the OnePlus 13R is a global version of the phone sold as the OnePlus Ace 5 in China, albeit with a few differences. Nevertheless, there are already a handful of videos on the internet showing the two phones ahead of their release tomorrow, and one of those videos has revealed an important detail.

The video is an unboxing of the OnePlus 13R which was posted on X by the YouTuber, Safwan AhmedMia a.k.a. SuperSaf. In the video, the OnePlus 13R is shown to come in a familiar red box which OnePlus has been shipping some of its smartphones in for a while now. However, what is interesting is that the box is quite slim, hinting at the lack of an important accessory in the box.

Upon opening the box, it is revealed that the OnePlus 13R doesn't come with a charger, but there's a USB-C to USB-A cable included. The reason for the lack of a charger in the box is as a result of the European Commission allowing the sales of new electronic devices without a charger so as to reduce e-waste. While the UK isn't part of the EU, it appears it has also adopted some of these regulations.

The OnePlus UK site also confirms the phone will indeed not be coming with a charger as the pre-order page shows the symbol that indicates that a charger isn't bundled with the device. Thankfully, this won't be the case in all parts of the world as unboxing videos from India and North America show the OnePlus 13R shipping in a bigger box with a charger.

The OnePlus 13 will likely not come with a charger in the box in the UK and the EU, too.
