OnePlus has just released the Ace 5 series in China, which consists of a standard and a Pro phone. Among the two, the former is expected to be rebranded for the global market as the OnePlus 13R. However, it seems that the specs won't be a complete match between the two.
To look back, the OnePlus 12R had pretty much the same specs as the Ace 3. Considering that, it would be natural to expect the upcoming budget-friendly sub-flagship to have specs identical to its Chinese counterpart's. However, it seems things will be a little different this time.
As revealed by the official website, the OnePlus 13R will pack a 6,000 mAh battery, the same as the company's Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship that's about to go global on January 7th. To compare, the Chinese Ace 5 features a 6,400 mAh battery, which is a massive upgrade over the predecessor (Iniu 10,000 mAh power bank curr. $20.96 on Amazon).
This 6,400 mAh capacity also makes the OnePlus Ace 5 stand as the phone with the largest battery within the company's portfolio. Of course, this wouldn't be the first time we would see a global phone with a lower-capacity battery than its Chinese variant. Take the Realme GT 7 Pro, for example.
Realme launched that Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship phone in China with a noticeably larger 6,500 mAh battery, while the Indian variant got a 5,800 mAh battery. Changes in the battery capacity usually happen when brands have to comply with regional standards. However, in terms of the OnePlus 13R, given that it shares the same teaser web page as the OnePlus 13, it's possible that the company forgot to update the number for the former.
