The OnePlus 13R will make its global debut on January 7 alongside the Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered OnePlus 13. Days before the official unveiling, the company fully showcased its new affordable sub-flagship.

Unlike previously speculated, it seems that the OnePlus 13R won't be a full rebrand of the Ace 5 that launched in China. As we've covered, the global phone will have a smaller battery than its Chinese counterpart, but the rest of the core specs are expected to remain the same.

It also seems that the OnePlus 13R won't be available in all the color options that the Ace 5 is available in. To be specific, as the company has just confirmed, the upcoming global affordable sub-flagship will be available in Nebula Noir and Astral Trail. The Chinese version, on the other hand, is available in a third option: celadon, which sports a ceramic finish on the back.

The other two colorways look the same as the Ace 5, with the Astral Trail having a texture-like finish while the Nebula Noir offers a matte-like outlook. As mentioned earlier, besides the battery, all the other core specs of the OnePlus 13R are expected to remain the same.

That means the OnePlus 13R should come with the same customized Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which the company touted to be capable of delivering 8 Gen 3.5-level performance. This SoC is expected to be paired with 1 TB of storage and 16 GB of RAM.

As for the rear camera setup, the official images on the website show the same configuration as the Ace 5. If it's indeed an identical setup, the back will have a 50 MP primary, 8 MP ultrawide, and a 2 MP macro sensor. The front, on the other hand, is expected to sport a 16 MP selfie shooter.

There's no word on the pricing yet, but the OnePlus 12R had a starting launch price of $499.99. The upcoming affordable sub-flagship is expected to stay around the $500 range (128 GB Pixel 9 curr. $639.99 on Amazon).
