Ofiito's Urban Racer lightweight e-bike hits Indiegogo
Ofiito might be a new name to the market, but the Urban Racer carbon fiber e-bike looks like a promising first step for them. Although it still has to start shipping after the completion of the Indiegogo campaign that kicked off today, this piece of tech has already managed to grab a few awards, such as the GIDA and Golden Pin Design Awards. The Indiegogo campaign has a flexible goal of just $5,000, and with 31 days left and just 3 backers so far, this project has already drawn $6,293.
The aforementioned crowdfunding campaign is straightforward, as there are no baseball caps, shirts, or mouse pads to get for moderate prices. The only item available is the Ofiito Urban Racer, with sizes between XS and XL. The prices are 50% of the $3,999 MSRP, starting at $1,996 for the XS size and reaching $2,000 for the XL.
The list of technical highlights includes 700X28C tires, a fully-integrated downtube 360 Wh (36v10ah (20*LG 21700)) battery that powers a direct-pull 36 V/250 W hub motor with 30 Nm torque, a built-in LED display with Bluetooth connectivity, an L-Twoo electronic rear derailleur for the 11-speed transmission capable of speeds up to 28 mph (45 kmh), dual hydraulic brakes, and more. All cables are routed internally, while the frame, fork, handlebar, and seat post are manufactured using T800 carbon. This design approach allowed the Ofiito team to keep the weight of the Urban Racer at just 30.2 pounds (13.7 kg).
While waiting for the Ofiito Urban Racer to reach them, this project's supporters (and most bikers who find this attractive enough) could grab the Kryptonite Evolution Mini-7 Bike U-Lock with Cable off Amazon for $70.21 instead of $92.95, thanks to a 24% discount.
