OPPO unveils the new Snapdragon 730G-powered K5
The OPPO K5 has been released as the OEM's first device to feature VOOC 4.0 charging technology. It is reportedly rated to charge a 4000mAh battery in 73 minutes, which is just as well because this is the capacity found in the new device. It also features the Snapdragon 730G SoC, and comes with 6 or 8GB of RAM.
Besides this, the new K5 has a 6.4-inch AMOLED panel. This display, unlike that of the K3's, has a waterdrop notch due to its lack of a pop-up selfie camera. It houses a 32MP camera like that of the Honor 20 series. This device is also OPPO's almost obligatory 64MP camera phone, which is joined by 3 other lenses on its rear panel.
These specs had been released in an earlier teaser, however. Despite the small details, such as an in-display fingerprint sensor that apparently unlocks the screen 7.9% faster than its predecessors, all that was really to be revealed about the K5 was its price.
It transpires that it starts at 1899 yuan (~US$267) for a 6/128GB SKU. This goes up to 2099 yuan (or ~$295) to increase the RAM to 8GB, or 2499 yuan (~$352) to increase the storage to 256GB.
The OPPO K5 also has Polar Sunshine (white), Fantasy Forest (green) and Cyber Metal (blue) colorways; however, again, only the first 2 are on sale now. Oh, one more thing: this new phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack. It is available on its OEM's website, and will be available to order from October 17, 2019.
