Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 laptop variant specs revealed by new leak
A recent leak shed light on the GeForce RTX 5090 desktop's specifications. Among other things, it would come with 32 GB of VRAM and guzzle up to 600 Watts of power. Even its laptop version will get a spec update, if a new leak from Moore's Law is Dead is accurate. Here's what the GeForce RTX 5090 laptop could look like:
- GB203 GPU
- 24 GB VRAM on a 256-bit bus
- 377 mm2 die size
However, it might not launch until much later next year because 24 GB VRAM on a 256-bit bus required 3 Gb GDDR7 modules. Before that, we might see the GeForce RTX 5080, which was previously rumoured to launch with 16 GB of video memory. Even the mid-range GeForce RTX 5070 could come with 12 GB VRAM, but it isn't clear if it is GDDR6 or GDDR7.
This mirrors Nvidia's speculated strategy with its desktop SKUs, with the GeForce RTX 5080 tipped to launch before the RTX 5090. Unfortunately, all we have to go by are rumours because Nvidia continues to remain silent about its next-gen graphics cards.
