Carl Pei's new start-up Nothing has but one product to its name so far: the ear (1) TWS earbuds. The active noise-cancelling (ANC)-enabled wearables have had only one SKU since their launch. Now, however, they are slated to release again in the form of a second option that may or may not go on sale soon.

Carl Pei established Nothing with the well-publicized mission statement of making and selling tech that blends seamlessly into a user's life and looks little like everything else out there. Judging by its inaugural product, a pair of TWS earbuds called ear (1), this mainly translates into a fairly on-trend transparent look.

The ear (1)s are not completely see-through, however: their ear-tips and main bodies apart from their stems are finished in white. This has been the buds' one and only colorway since launch, and, while it is effectively a TWS earbud industry staple, yet might not appeal to all prospective buyers.

Now, however, 91Mobiles asserts that Nothing might have something else for its fans. However, it is not a new product, but an upcoming refresh of the ear (1)s in black. Should they truly exist, they will presumably have the same specs as the existing variants (of which the highlights include ANC and Bluetooth 5.2), although the insert found in their case might also change to match the alleged new colorway.

On the other hand, these putative "new" Nothing buds lack a release date at present.
