A photo of what is supposedly the back of the Mate 30 Pro has leaked out of China, showing a distinct change in the design language of its predecessor. Call us cynical, but the timing of this "leak" coincides awfully well with the partial lifting of US sanctions against Huawei. Hype generation for its next flagship or just a camera happy employee?

The photo below could be the first look at what will eventually become the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. Originally shared on Chinese social media website Weibo, the photo has now been picked up by Slashleaks where it has a 50% trust score. Hence, we would recommend exercising some caution at this stage about the photo's authenticity.

The glass in question has curved sides just like the back of the Mate 20 Pro. However, it also has curved corners, giving the impression that the glass back of the Mate 30 Pro could sit against the frame rather than within it. The more eye-catching change is the circular rear-facing camera housing, which looks very Nokia Lumia 830.

There is no word yet on the number of rear-facing cameras that the Mate 30 Pro will have. We suspect it will be at least a couple more than the Lumia 830 has though, considering the three that the Mate 20 Pro and P30 Pro have. @CConceptCreator has brought the alleged Mate 30 Pro design to life in an exquisite concept render, the video for which we have included below. We expect Huawei to equip its upcoming flagship with a HiSilicon Kirin 985 SoC, the successor to the Kirin 980 found in the Mate 20 Pro. Expect to see the Mate 30 Pro arrive in September or October at the latest.
