Further leaks point to 32MP selfie camera and Kirin 810 for the Huawei Nova 5
Huawei is scheduled to launch the Nova 5 on June 21, 2019. Despite the fact that this is only 4 days from now, the OEM could ostensibly not wait to share a possibly vital point of information on the device. This phone is projected to have a waterdrop notch, possibly so as to distinguish it from the somewhat similar Honor V20 Pro. This was rumored to house a 32MP selfie camera. Today, Huawei openly confirmed this detail on its Weibo channel.
This is not the only novel leak pertaining to the Nova 5, however. Previous evidence on the phone suggested that it would be powered by the Kirin 980 chipset (like, again, the V20 Pro). However, the HuaweiClub tipster has now asserted that it will feature the Kirin 810 instead. This new SoC is described as a 7nm "mid range" processor with a "self developed" (not clear what is meant by this, but most likely signifies that it is an in-house Huawei product) NPU for AI.
This new apparent direction for the Nova 5 is strange, as a Geekbench listing for a phone with a model number likely to belong to this phone has also popped up with specs and scores in line with those of the more premium processor. It is possible that this device, should it prove genuine, is a Pro variant of the new Huawei device. As the device is also linked to a putative, Snapdragon 710-powered lubHuaweAs series companion called the 5i - and even a 5i Pro besides that - this may not be beyond the realms of possibility.
