Nintendo announces a new Switch Lite for Europe

The Nintendo Switch Lite was released 7 years ago as a cheaper alternative to the Switch. While there are rumors that a successor will be released, that remains to be seen. Nevertheless, Nintendo has released a new Switch Lite that will be available in Europe.

The new Switch Lite is actually a new bundle that includes the hit game, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. The bundle is reported to be launching next month, specifically on October 29, across Europe. It will include a Switch Lite in Turquoise and a download code for the game. It will also include a 30-day trial for Nintendo Switch Online.

The price for the new Switch Lite bundle hasn't been announced yet, but there are speculations that it will retail for €219.99, which is the same price Nintendo sold a similar Animal Crossing: New Horizons bundle. The game itself costs €59.99 while the Switch Lite is €199.99, so you are saving some money with the bundle, if the rumored price checks out.

There are reports that the new bundle is Nintendo's way of clearing the remaining stock of Switch Lite available before the 2027 deadline set by the EU for devices to ship with a user-removable battery. While Nintendo has already begun selling a new Switch 2 that meets the requirement, it most likely doesn't plan to release a new version of a 7-year old console that adheres to the EU's regulation.

In addition to the Switch Lite bundle, Nintendo has also announced three other bundles that will be available in Europe. There's the Switch 2 + Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle that will be released on October 22, while a new Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle will arrive a week later, on October 29. There will also be a Switch 1 + Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (physical copy) bundle on October 29. The Switch 2 bundles will include a 3-month individual Nintendo Switch Online membership.
