Google has confirmed that a new category of devices running Googlebook OS will be launching soon. Based on recent leaks, the first batch will wield up to 13-inch OLED displays with removable keyboard accessories and active stylus support.

Just over a month has passed since Google and major laptop OEMs announced the first batch of Googlebooks. As we discussed at the time, the lineup currently consists of the Acer Googlebook 14, Asus Googlebook 14, Dell XPS Googlebook, HP Googlebook 15 and the Lenovo Googlebook 15. Featuring harmonised hardware, most of these are now cheaper than at launch, too.

Moreover, Google has confirmed that more Googlebook-branded devices are coming, too. Specifically, the company revealed the following during last week's Android Dev Summit 2026:

Googlebooks spans across large screen form factors from clamshells, convertibles, and soon detachables.

For the time being, neither Google nor its partners have expanded upon this teaser. However, recent leaks indicate that the first of these 'detachables' will be the Googlebook Duet m. A 13-inch tablet, the Googlebook Duet m revives that 'Duet' branding, which we last saw when reviewing the Chromebook Duet 11 in 2025 (curr. $479 on Amazon).

Reportedly, the upcoming device leverages the Dimensity CX C10 Max, a 3 nm chipset that MediaTek equips with Cortex-X925, Cortex-X4 and Cortex-A720 CPU cores. By the sounds of things, the Googlebook Duet m is one of several tablet-first Googlebooks that will be available.

If others are like Lenovo's attempt, then they will also support active styluses, which may well be marketed as the Pen Pro for Googlebook. The similarities that exist between current Googlebook laptops indicate that detachable equivalents will share much of the hardware found in the Googlebook Duet m. A launch date for any 'detachable' Googlebook remains unknown for now.
