New leak hints at OnePlus 16 adopting familiar 200 MP periscope camera

The OnePlus 16 is a couple of months away from launch, but recent reports have already shared what to expect from the upcoming flagship phone, at least in terms of the camera. Digital Chat Station, a reliable leaker, reported in January 2026 that the smartphone will feature a 200 MP sensor.

However, the leaker didn't share any further information about the camera that the OnePlus flagship may feature. Now, a new report from another notable tipster, Smart Pikachu, has hinted at what the sensor could be. As the leaker shares, it will be the same 200 MP camera that Realme has implemented on its phones.

For reference, Realme's current flagship phone, the GT 8 Pro, sports a 200 MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom. It's the Samsung HP5 sensor, which is also found in camera flagships like the Oppo Find X9 Pro.

As for the OnePlus 16, the exact configuration of this rumored 200 MP periscope telephoto is still unclear, but the configuration could be the same as the one found in the GT 8 Pro. To fill you in, the Samsung Isocell HP5 on the Realme flagship is paired with an f/2.6 lens, and it has a 65 mm focal length.

Recent reports have also hinted that OnePlus will pair this 200 MP periscope telephoto with a 50 MP primary and 50 MP ultrawide camera. These latter sensors could remain unchanged from the current-gen OnePlus 15 (12/256 GB curr. $653.20 on TradingShenzhen). More details about the upcoming flagship phone are expected to surface soon.
