New Segway Navimow robot mower with VisionFence coming to US
The new Segway Navimow robot lawn mower will soon become available to customers in the US and Canada via an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. This model will be offered with VisionFence, sensors which allow the robot to detect lawn edges and avoid obstacles, including wildlife. The company has yet to announce the pledge levels or MSRP for the gadget, and the exact launch date of the campaign is unknown.
For context, the Segway Navimow starts at £1,299 (~US$1,16) in the UK, with the VisionFence Sensor accessory costing £269.99 (~US$336). Like many other new models, the robot does not require a perimeter wire but instead uses an Exact Fusion Locating System (EFLS) to navigate your garden. The system is combined with AI algorithms and VisionFence to determine the most efficient mowing route, and the robot can visually determine boundaries in case of a weak signal.
You can control the Segway robot mower via the Navimow app, adjusting the mowing schedule and the cutting height between 30 and 60 mm (~1.2 to 2.4-in). Four different models of the Navimow are offered in the UK, suitable for lawns up to 3,000 m² (~32,292 ft²). Whether all variants will be offered via the Indiegogo campaign remains to be seen.
