According to recent reports, a major Android OEM is considering leaving the foldable market altogether. In summary, rumours suggest that this could be Oppo, which has introduced three foldable generations to date. For reference, Oppo exiting the world of foldables would undoubtedly see OnePlus making the same decision.
However, various sources have read into a recent Weibo post from Digital Chat Station that this prior report may not be the most accurate. Ultimately, Digital Chat Station has not discussed the prospect of Oppo and OnePlus turning their backs on foldables. Instead, they have mentioned that the latter is considering releasing a new small-screen flagship in Q2 2025.
In other words, the unnamed OnePlus device should should land next spring between early April and late June. Either way, there is no guarantee that Digital Chat Station was talking about a foldable. While Digital Chat Station did not provide too many specifics, they did elaborate that the device would sit within the OnePlus Ace series.
If that is the case, then the device would likely be exclusive to China, just like the Ace 3, Ace 3V and Ace 3 Pro. With that being said, the device could be available globally under a different name, as was the case this year with the Ace 3 that OnePlus re-branded to the OnePlus 12R (curr. $599.99 on Amazon) outside China. Presumably, that would not occur until at least the summer of 2025 though, given OnePlus' recent release schedules.
