HP is unveiling a slew of new and updated Omen gaming monitors at CES 2025 today, from the budget Omen 27 G2 line-up, which all feature factory colour calibration, to the all-rounder 4K Omen 32x, which has Google TV built-in. The Omen 34c, however, falls somewhere in the middle of those other options, in terms of both features and price, with pricing expected to start at $479.99 from HP later this year.
The HP Omen 34c is an ultrawide gaming monitor with a VA panel and some impressive specifications for its mid-range price. The Omen 34c balances sharpness and speed, with a 180 Hz refresh rate and 3,440 × 1,440 p resolution. When frame rates drop, the Omen 34c can fall back on AMD FreeSync Premium and Vesa AdaptiveSync.

All things considered, the Omen 34c seems to offer a fairly decent value proposition, given the specifications and the expected $479.99 price, and inevitable discounts will bring that price down to far more reasonable levels. There are, however, some aspects of the new Omen 34c gaming monitor that are bound to be somewhat contentious, like the fairly tight 1500R curve and the fact that it uses a VA panel, rather than an OLED or IPS display.
Still, there are plenty of quality-of-life features to take the edge off, like the height- and tilt-adjustable stand and its minimalist design. Unfortunately, the new Omen 34c gaming monitor will need to contend with more affordable incumbents, like the Asus TUF Gaming 34 (VG34VQ3B), which comes in at only $372.99 and features the same 180 Hz refresh rate, identical curvature, resolution, and brightness, and only slightly worse colour space coverage. Unless you need the factory colour calibration of the Omen 34c, or you simply can't stand the more gamer-y looks of the Asus TUF Gaming monitor, there's little reason to opt for the Omen over the TUF in this case.
The HP Omen 34c G2 gaming monitor is expected to launch around April 2025, and it will be available directly from HP's online store.
