Casio G-Shock has teamed up with Converse Tokyo on a new collaboration DW-5600 series watch. This “special model” celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Japanese sports brand, which was started after the original US-based Converse company went bankrupt.
The G-Shock x Converse Tokyo model is based on the DW-5600UE (curr. $59.96 at Amazon). Described by the company as “one-of-a-kind”, it has a purple digital display with orange figures, surrounded by a black frame featuring the Converse star in purple. There is a matte black resin bezel and casing, and the black resin strap features yellow, purple and blue flowers like lilies and cosmos.
This DW-5600X watch shows the time in 12 or 24 hour formats, alongside the weekday and date on its LCD display. Features include a 1/100th second stopwatch, a countdown timer, a multi-function alarm and hourly time signals. Plus, there is an LED backlight to help you read the watch in low lighting. It should run for around five years on a CR2016 battery and is said to be water resistant to 200 m. Typical measurements of a DW-5600 watch are 48.9 x 42.8 x 13.4 mm (~1.9 x 1.7 x 0.5 inches), and they tend to weigh around 52 g (~1.8 oz).
In Japan, you can now pre-order the Casio G-Shock x Converse Tokyo DW-5600X watch at the Converse online store for ¥ 20,900 (~$142). It will be available at all Converse Tokyo stores (excl. Gotemba Outlet Store) from September 19th. Based on this information, it is likely that this watch will be exclusive to the Japanese market.
