The Anker Prime TB5 Docking Station (14-in-1, 8K, Thunderbolt 5) has been launched in North America and Europe. This new desktop accessory has been designed with creators and gamers in mind, with features like a cooling fan and vents.
At the front of the Prime TB5 Docking Station are a 3.5 mm audio jack, two USB-C ports with a total output of 45 W, and a USB-A port. On the back are an upstream Thunderbolt 5 port, connecting to the host device with 140W pass-through charging, and two downstream Thunderbolt 5 ports to connect to peripherals with an up to 120 Gbps data transfer rate. Plus, there are two further USB-A ports, with each USB output offering a 10 Gbps data transfer rate.
There are HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 to connect a display with an up to 8K@60Hz resolution for Windows or up to 6K@60Hz for MacBook. It is worth noting that they cannot be used simultaneously, but a second monitor could be connected via one of the Thunderbolt 5 ports. Also at the rear are a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port and the AC input. Other features include ambient lighting with a range of dynamic lighting effects and firmware updates via the accompanying app.
The Anker docking station is compatible with devices running Windows 10 / 11 and later or macOS 15 and later, but it will not work with ChromeOS and Linux systems. You can now buy the Anker Prime TB5 Docking Station (14-in-1, 8K, Thunderbolt 5) for $399.99/€419.00. While it ships immediately in the US, customers in some EU countries will have to wait until early or mid-May to receive their accessory. Whether or when it will launch in the UK remains unclear.
