The Hubble Space Telescope recently captured an incredible image of comet 3I/ATLAS, while it was located 228 million kilometers from Earth. And that's not all, as NASA has planned further observations in the near future.

In service for 35 years, the Hubble Space Telescope has enabled astronomers and scientists around the world to make numerous discoveries. And while the JWST is now more powerful and offers better results, Hubble has recently photographed comet 3I/ATLAS, and needless to say, the image is breathtaking.

Since its launch on 25 April 1990, Hubble has played an important role in the observation and understanding of the universe. It must be said that it allowed astronomers to estimate the size and age of our universe, but also its speed of expansion. Not to mention that he was also able to observe the impact of the comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 on Jupiter between July 16 and 22, 1994.

But even though its technology has now been surpassed by other devices such as the James Webb Space Telescope, that doesn't stop NASA from using it to make other observations. This was the case on November 30, 2025, when it took a striking photograph of comet 3I/ATLAS passing through our solar system, which some consider to be an alien probe.

In this photo taken by Hubble's Wide Field Camera 3 (WFCC3), a bright spot is visible in the center, which is none other than the interstellar comet. At that moment, it was 228 million kilometers from Earth, and the white streaks are stars, as the telescope followed its trajectory in the sky. Finally, other observations are planned by NASA, and they could be carried out by this telescope.

Regarding this comet, many mysteries are still present, and astronomers are trying to elucidate them. But it is moving further and further away from our solar system, and soon, its observation will be impossible.
