Minisforum teases additional specs for the upcoming N5 MAX AI NAS with AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395

Minisforum first teased the N5 MAX AI NAS back in mid-March when the company announced that the model would be powered by the powerful AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, making it ideal to run OpenClaw locally via the MiniCloud OS in addition to the extended NAS features. The company just released more spec details for this new NAS unit, also mentioning April 23, which will probably be the date when availability and pricing is revealed.
The latest X post from Minisforum mentions that the N5 MAX would offer up to 126 TOPS AI compute power thanks to AMD’s Strix Halo workstation processor with integrated Radeon 8060S GPU. Unlike other Strix Halo models that pack 128 GB RAM, the N5 MAX is equipped with 64 GB LPDDR5X, most likely because Minisforum wants to present a more palatable cost given the ongoing RAM shortages.
On the storage side, the N5 MAX is shaping up to be a solid NAS solution that supports up to 200 TB via 5x HDD + 5x SSD slots. To keep all these components including the AMD APU running at optimal specs, the N5 MAX chassis features an advanced cooling system with multi-fan design. As with the most recent mini PCs from Minisforum, the N5 MAX would also feature the new USB4 v2 port with 80 Gbps transfer rates, while the networking component is solid with dual 10 Gbps NICs.
If Minisforum manages to offer this model at sub-$2,000, it could be an excellent alternative most available Strix Halo models that cost over $2,300, with the added bonus of an excellent NAS system, but with half the RAM capacity.
