The pirate survival game Windrose is set to launch in Early Access on April 14. After the strong response to the demo and more than 1.5 million wishlists on Steam, Windrose Crew can likely expect a successful start.

In gameplay terms, Windrose combines exploration, survival and base building in an open pirate world. Players build outposts, gather resources and craft equipment while fighting enemies on land and across the open sea. The focus is on handcrafted locations, co-op gameplay and a dynamic combat system that features both melee and ranged weapons. The release date was officially announced during the Triple-I Initiative 2026, confirming that Windrose will enter Early Access on April 14.

Successful demo

The Windrose demo was released in February 2026 and was well received by the community, with 92% of more than 5,400 Steam reviews rating it positively. The game has now surpassed 1.5 million wishlists. If nothing goes wrong before launch and the servers hold up, very little seems likely to stand in the way of a strong release. Official details on pricing and a timeframe for the full release are still pending.

Community remains optimistic

The comments under the release date trailer on YouTube are largely optimistic. Many fans are surprised by how close the launch already is. Others specifically praise the pirate setting and the positive impressions left by the demo. There are also more critical voices, however. Some comments express general skepticism toward Early Access, while others question whether the combat system has been improved enough since the beta.

All in all, the successful demo has created high expectations within the community. Whether Windrose can live up to them will become clear from April 14 onward.
