The mid-April 2026 PC free game has been revealed, and it's an award-winning real-time stealth title from 2025, The Stone of Madness. Epic Games Store will give it away as a free game on April 16.

Epic Games Store has refreshed the PC free game section, and as always, this update on the storefront has unlocked freebies and revealed the upcoming giveaway. The soon-to-unlock freebie, however, is an interesting one.

It's The Stone of Madness, a real-time stealth title that was released in 2025. Epic Games Store will give it away as a free game from April 16, 2026, and it will be available as a freebie until April 23, 2026. It's worth noting that the usual refresh time is UTC 15:00.

The Stone of Madness was crowned as the Gold Winner at the NYX Game Awards 2025 show, and the player reception has also been relatively good. On Steam, it has a 76% positive rating, making it hold the "Mostly Positive" tag.

Developed by the same studio behind the well-rated Blasphemous series, The Stone of Madness puts players in an 18th-century Spanish monastery. The primary goal is to escape, using the skills and resources available to the five in-game characters.

Each character has upgradeable skills, which players can use to clear the levels. As the story progresses, players can explore the mysteries of the monastery, and one interesting element is that the surroundings hide tools and clues, encouraging players to go heavy on exploration.

Another key aspect is how the game handles time. It's continuous, and players need to factor in the time of day before making a decision. While many would avoid nighttime for curfew, it offers an extra challenge, which some players praised.

Speaking of which, some players also criticized how the game handles enemies. The immortal ghosts, for example, are very challenging to avoid and can make the sessions frustrating. Controls can also feel a bit unrefined, but it's worth noting that the developers recommend playing with a controller (8BitDo Ultimate 2C curr. $23.99 on Amazon).

When not discounted, The Stone of Madness costs $29.99, but on April 16, it will drop to $0. Check out the video attached below to learn more about this upcoming Epic Games Store free game.
