Microsoft releases the Surface Laptop Studio in Europe and the UK for cheaper than expected prices

Microsoft has brought the Surface Laptop Studio to Europe, including the UK. Launched last year in North America, the Surface Laptop Studio succeeds the Surface Book 3, albeit with a different form factor and a lower resolution display. Still, the Surface Laptop Studio supports a 120 Hz refresh rate, which cannot be said for the Surface Book 3.

The Surface Laptop Studio starts at £1,449 in the UK and €1,699 in the Eurozone. However, the base model lacks a dedicated GPU. Instead, the configuration relies on the Iris Xe Graphics G7 built into the onboard Core i5-11300H processor. While the Iris Xe Graphics G7 iGPU may be powerful enough for some light gaming, it only offered about a third of the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti's gaming performance in our tests.

By contrast, Microsoft charges at least £1,899 and €2,199 for the Surface Laptop Studio with a GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU. Undoubtedly, these are high prices for an entry-level GPU, but they are cheaper than   Incidentally, GeForce RTX 3050 Ti models only come with the Core i7-11370H and a 102 W charger. Also, these configurations weigh 80 g more than the iGPU-siblings.

Microsoft will begin shipping all Surface Laptop Studio configurations on February 22. Additionally, pre-orderers will receive a complimentary Surface Slim Pen 2. Typically, the Surface Slim Pen 2 costs £119.99, for reference.
