Meta Quest announces v39 update bringing Share to Headset to iOS devices
Meta Quest, formerly Oculus, has announced a new update for its VR devices. Update v39 brings updated features to the Quest headsets and a new Home environment. The Mountain Study environment is billed as a quiet and peaceful retreat to help you focus.
Several multitasking features have been moved into general use from Experimental settings, such as a tool that allows you to cycle between recently used apps quickly. This means that you no longer need to opt-in to these settings.
Other improvements include the ability to select from multiple instances of the same app, such as several Meta Quest Browser windows. The Meta Quest Browser logo has also changed.
Apple fans will be pleased to hear that the Share to Headset feature that arrived for Android phones in v37 is now available for iOS devices. This tool lets you send VR content directly from your phone to your headset.
Meta Quest says that the update will be rolling out to devices in the next few weeks. It described update 39 as “short and sweet”, promising v40 would be released in the near future. This announcement for the latest software update arrives days before the annual Meta Quest Gaming Showcase on April 20th.
