Pico Neo 3 Link: New VR headset lands promising uncompressed video for €449
Pico Interactive has revealed the Neo 3 Link, a VR headset that should rival the Oculus Quest 2 and potentially even the Quest 2 Pro. Based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 platform, the Pico Neo 3 Link also has 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, which allows it to be used independently of a computer. Accordingly, the headset has a built-in battery. Supposedly, the 5,300 mAh cell should last up to 4 hours between charges.
Additionally, the Pico Neo 3 Link has a 5.5-inch display with a 3,664 x 1,920-pixel resolution, a 773 PPI pixel density and a 90 Hz refresh rate. Also, the headset offers a 98° field of view, 58-69 mm IPD and inside-out tracking via 4x mono fisheye cameras. Moreover, Pico Interactive has included a 3.5 mm jack, plus integrated microphones and speakers.
However, the Pico Neo 3 Link can be connected to a computer too, either through DisplayPort or Wi-Fi. As UploadVR notes, the former allows the Pico Neo 3 Link to utilise uncompressed video streams, unlike the Oculus Quest 2. The Pico Neo 3 Link will be orderable in Europe and the UK from April 15. At launch, Pico Interactive states that the Pico Neo 3 Link will support over 120 games, including After the Fall, Puzzling Places and Superhot VR. The headset will be pre-orderable from websites like Bestware, where it costs €449.
