Medion Erazer X6603
Lenovo’s subsidiary Medion has just made available its latest affordable but high-end gaming notebook which is the Medion Erazer X6603. The high-end hardware specification allows users to use it for playing games at high detail, studying or even to use business applications. With Turbo Boost 2.0, the powerful Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor has enough power to keep up with current games. The graphics card in this league is also logical. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is a piece of high-performance gaming hardware at the desktop level. It has with 4 GB GDDR5 memory and digital HDMI audio/video output. Also with the memory, this notebook uses one, with a PCIe SSD, which starts system and programs even faster than previous SSD hard disks. A 1 TB HDD holds abundant additional memory for photos, videos, music, and files. Thanks to 16GB of DDR4 memory multitasking is very fast. The chassis of the new Erazer X6603 reveals that the design is a modified version of Lenovo's existing Legion Y520 series of notebooks. The laptop adopts an original gamer-like look with its black blue design. The angled speaker grilles, bar hinge, and surrounding trackpad features are not unlike what Lenovo currently offers on its latest Y series. The Medion however, appears to be more streamlined for a wider mainstream appeal. The speakers of the laptop are High-Definition-Audio with 2 loudspeakers Dolby Audio Premium certified. As for the battery, the laptop features a 4-cell Li-ion battery which is capable of delivering an average battery time of 4 hours. Since it is clearly not able to last thru a whole day with the tightly sized battery, it is essential to bring a power supply on the go. On the software side, it has Windows 10 Home with a comprehensive Windows 10 App package and a free trial version of Office 365 are pre-installed. The display of the laptop is a 15.6-inch FHD IPS display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. While dominating opponents in a game, a user will have less burden of reflection, light and greasy fingerprints with the anti-reflective screen. An integrated USB 3.1 type C connector is available for fast data exchange. Other than that, it has the usual USB Type-A, HDMI, and RJ-45. The only disadvantage of the laptop is the absence of a DVD player for playing CDs and DVDs. Wirelessly, the Medion Erazer X6603 is equipped with an Intel Wireless-AC 8265 adapter as well as Bluetooth 4.1. Hands-on article by Jagadisa RajarathnamSpecifications

No, it’s not perfect. But look past the limitations and you’ll still have a gaming laptop that’s good for playing most titles at decent frame rates and detail settings. Good luck getting better than that for less cash.

Medion Erazer X7857
The Medion Erazer X7857 is a large and fast gaming notebook with a metal case that can be easily overclocked. Through various settings in the BIOS, the Intel CPU and the RAM can be overclocked. Moreover, a pre-installed app allows to overclock the GTX 1070 graphics card from Nvidia. The gaming notebook from Medion has a 17.3-inch, matte, LED backlight display with IPS technology. The resolution is 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, which corresponds to Full HD. The viewing angles are very good and the screen content can be viewed loss-free from almost any angle. The average illumination is very good 373 cd/m² and the pixel density is 127 PPI. In addition to the Intel Core i7-7820HK, the notebook also includes a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 with 8 GB of VRAM. It is based on the Nvidia Pascal architecture and also provides optimal conditions for virtual reality. The Intel CPU, an offshoot of the Kaby Lake architecture (7th generation), operates at a base clock of 2.9 GHz. Through hyper-threading individual CPU cores reach up to 3.9 GHz. The built-in CPU from Intel can also be easily overclocked. This requires manual intervention in the BIOS or Medion App. This model also has 32 GB of DDR4 RAM built in. The Windows 10 operating system is installed on a 512 GB SSD module. In delivery state, there are 422 GB available. This M.2 module achieved transfer rates of over 3,300 MB/s (measured with Crystal Diskmark 5.2.2). When writing, the SSD module is much slower. At around 1,500 MB/s, it is still fast. In addition, Medion has also built a hard drive, with a storage capacity of 2 TB in this model. The Medion Erazer X7857 gaming notebook has a large QWERTY keyboard with a separate numeric keypad. The keys have a good size and a very good stroke. In the front of the palm rest, there is a touchpad with two dedicated mouse replacement buttons. As a special highlight, a colored backlight can be switched on. It does not only glow in one color. The user can set different lighting effects in the software. There are many ports on the sides of the gaming notebook. On the left side, there are three USB sockets (Type A and Type C with Thunderbolt support). External monitors can be controlled via HDMI, Displayport, or the aforementioned USB Type C socket. That means a user can play on three monitors at the same time. On the right, Medion has two other type A USB sockets, the card reader for SD cards, the RJ-45 socket and the connections for the headset included. The gaming notebook lacks an optical drive. The network connection can either be wireless via WLAN (ac standard) or wired via the RJ-45 socket (GBit-LAN). The 6 cell battery of the gaming notebook is sufficient for about 5 hours (office/surfing). The Medion Erazer X7857 is a proper gaming laptop with specs good enough to play most games at their highest settings. However, the Full-HD resolution is a let down as users would expect a QHD or UHD resolution in a laptop like this. Hands-on article by Jagadisa RajarathnamSpecifications

Go big, not go home: With the Core i9-13900HX and GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop, Medion has given this notebook the latest and most powerful hardware available right now. The device also features a fast 16:10 screen (2,560 x 1,600), a mechanical keyboard and a pretty good battery life.
Source: Stuff TV
Medion has managed an unlikely feat with the Erazer X40 Beast, making such an expensive laptop seem like good value. This is about as little as you can hope to pay at the time of review for a laptop with an Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics card, 13th Gen Core i9 processor and 32GB RAM. The fanciest models charge hundreds and hundreds more for the same specs. And yet Medion still manages to fit in some top drawer design features like a cracking Cherry MX mechanical keyboard and large glass touchpad. Where do you feel the cuts? The integrated speakers are not good, and we’ve seen much better 1080p webcams this year. We do wish the fan tone had managed to avoid the higher-pitch element to the tone heard. There’s some “whee” with the “whoosh”, but it doesn’t take too much shine off this laptop. Not persuaded? Check out the HP Omen 17, one of the few competing models at a similar price.

I really had to struggle to find fault with the Erazer X40 Beast. The display is good, it’s massively powerful, has an excellent mechanical keyboard and some nice ancillary touches like biometric log-in and an optional water cooler. And all for a pretty reasonable price. Unless HDR performance is a must – that’s the only reason I’ve docked the X40 a half-star – you can’t really go wrong. If you do want that Mini LED display goodness, the Acer Predator Helios 16 (2023) is your best bet if you don’t want the price to skyrocket. For a taste of the good life, look towards the Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 (2023).

16.00:
This range for display formats was and is a rarity. It is larger than the general standard of 15 inches, but not yet in the range of large workstations. One usually has higher screen resolutions available, but portability suffers from that.
17.00: This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).

2.24 kg:
3.1 kg:
A laptop with this weight is comparatively heavy and less designed for mobility than for use at the desk. Therefore, the devices tend to shine less with battery life than with a large screen and higher performance.
84.94%: This rating is slightly above average, there are somewhat more devices with worse ratings. However, clear purchase recommendations look different.
