Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro set for stable Oreo release
The Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro were among the first devices to receive Oreo, with the two last-gen flagships receiving beta updates months ago. Both devices have started receiving final, stable updates now, which is a testament to Huawei's dedication to providing major updates this time around.
The update to EMUI 8.0, began rollout yesterday, and brings standard Oreo features like Notification Dots, Picture-in-Picture, and some UI changes to users. It also brings the highly-acclaimed desktop projection feature that was touted on the new Mate 10 flagships.
Amidst all the clamor for Project Treble, it's important to point out that the Mate 9's Oreo update is one of the few to bring Treble implementation, alongside the Essential PH-1's.
The Mate 9 and its Pro siblings, being the main Huawei flagships of 2016, get priority. It's no surprise, then, that the P10 and V9 are slightly behind. Both devices are still on Oreo betas at the moment but there's no doubt that users will get stable updates in the coming weeks.
