Sony has sent out Oreo updates to the Xperia XZ and XZs, keeping up its good form of sending updates out on time. We expect the Xperia X phones—X, X Performance, and X Compact to receive their updates in the coming weeks.

Sony has gained a reputation for being faithful to releasing timely Android updates, with the OEM being the first company to send out Nougat updates last year, and continuing that fine form this year by sending out Oreo updates to the XZ Premium before any other manufacturer.

Oreo rollouts continue this week, this time with the Xperia XZ and XZs getting their first tastes of the latest Android version. The update comes with a build number of 41.3.A.0.401 and weighs in at 1.2 GB, so users of the aforementioned devices should keep their eyes peeled. Considering the announced roadmap for Oreo updates, we expect the Xperia X devices to get the next bunch of updates, followed by the XA1 offerings.

The major change this update brings is UI improvements and regular Oreo features; we're not sure if it implements Project Treble on the devices, as there has been no word of Treble on any Sony device till date. The company is, perhaps, the most developer-friendly, with massive contributions to the AOSP platform, so it wouldn't come as a surprise if these updated devices get Treble.
