Purported renders of the forthcoming Sony Xperia XZ Pro have surface online in China. If accurate, it looks like it could be the flagship Sony smartphone many have been waiting for. One of the last major Android makers to have held out on the bezel-less smartphone trend, Sony looks to have finally joined the party.
Although the device pictured has narrow top and bottom bezels, it differentiates itself from the competition with unusual perforations at either end of the device. While ostensibly large speaker arrays, they could mask other technology. For example, unlike the recently revealed Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra, which both include a circular fingerprint sensor on the rear, the XZ Pro looks like it might instead rely on facial recognition tech.
In addition to dual-camera sensors on the rear, said to be 18 MP and 12 MP respectively, the 5.5- to 6.0-inch display is set to pack a second-generation 4K mobile display (possibly OLED) from the Japanese tech giant. As with most flagship devices due this year, it will be embedded with a Snapdragon 845 chip along with 6 GB RAM, 64 GB of storage and a decent 3,420 mAh battery. Expect to official details to come towards the end of February.
