Computex 2019 | MSI's best bet against the XPS 15 will now have 9th gen Core i9, 4K UHD, and faster GeForce RTX graphics

MSI P65 Creator to get new 9th gen Core i9, GeForce RTX graphics, and 4K UHD options
The P65 Creator will match the Core i9 and 4K UHD options of the latest Dell XPS 15 while offering faster RTX 2070 Max-Q graphics compared to only the GTX 1650 or 1050 Ti Max-Q on the Dell. The business-professional gray chassis stands out from the otherwise black and red MSI G series for gamers.

Last time we checked out the MSI P65 Creator, the business-professional laptop was limited to an Intel Core i7-8750H CPU and a GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q GPU. Now that it's almost a full year old, it's about time for a mid-gen refresh with more powerful internals and brand new configurations.

Announced at Computex 2019, the latest 15.6-inch P65 Creator will have octa-core Core i9-9880H and GeForce RTX options to replace the hexa-core Core i7-8750H and GTX graphics above, respectively. MSI will be throwing in a 4K UHD option as well whereas last year's model was limited to a 144 Hz 1080p panel. The P65 Creator serves as a more graphically advanced alternative to the Dell XPS 15 which will be limited to the GTX 1650 or GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q.

Other than the internal changes mentioned above, the 2019 P65 will have the same chassis as the 2018 model and we therefore recommend checking out our existing review on the 2018 P65 for more details about the chassis and its features. We will update this page with prices and availability once we receive them.

After graduating with a B.S. in environmental hydrodynamics from the University of California, I studied reactor physics to become licensed by the U.S. NRC to operate nuclear reactors. There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s. When I'm not managing day-to-day activities and US review articles on Notebookcheck, you can catch me following the eSports scene and the latest gaming news.
