CES 2022 | MSI Creator Z17 receives upgrades to new processors and graphics cards in 2022 refresh
MSI has upgraded the Creator Z17, a 17-inch laptop with a 16:10 aspect ratio. As of later this month, the Creator Z17 will be orderable with up to a Core i9-12900H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU. Additionally, MSI will equip all models with a 1600p display that also has a 165 Hz refresh rate, mirroring the Creator Z16P.
Moreover, the Creator Z17 now supports DDR5-4800 RAM, with its two SO-DIMM slots accepting up to 64 GB of memory. MSI will supply the machine with a 1 TB or 2 TB SSD, too. For reference, all models receive 4,800 MHz RAM and NVMe SSDs, along with Killer WiFi 6E AX1675 Wi-Fi cards.
MSI equips the Creator Z17 with the following ports, which also has quad 2 W speakers:
- 1x Thunderbolt 4 / DP/ USB Type-C (w/ PD Charging)
- 1x Thunderbolt 4 / DP/ USB Type-C
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- 1x HDMI (8K@ 60Hz / 4K@ 120Hz)

- 1x DC-in
The Creator Z17 starts at US$3,249 with a Core i7-12700H, RTX 3070 Ti and 32 GB of RAM. Stepping up to the Core i9-12900H and RTX 3080 costs US$3,999, but you receive a 2 TB SSD. However, the RTX 3080 Ti and 64 GB is a further US$600 upgrade, despite retaining the same CPU and SSD.
