MSI today announced the newest update to its midrange gaming laptop line, the Crosshair 17. The new laptop brings the latest Intel CPU and a new color scheme in addition to a few other upgrades.
The Crosshair 17 is essentially a spec bump of 2021’s model. The new Crosshair brings Intel’s 12th Gen Core i7-12700H CPU (1.7-4.7 GHz) to the line. The 2022 version can be configured with either an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 (6 GB) or RTX 3070 (8 GB), and it will ship with a 240 Watt power adapter to accommodate the more powerful graphics cards. Storage has been upgraded as well: the 2022 Crosshair 17 ships with a 512 GB PCIe Gen 4x4 NVMe SSD. The laptop has a single PCIe Gen 4x4 slot for storage.
Other components remain largely unchanged. The 2022 Crosshair 17 retains the same 16 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM (2 DIMM slots), port array (1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, 1x USB-A 2.0, 1x HDMI 2.0a [4K60], 1x RJ45), and wireless connectivity options (Intel AX201 WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2).
There is only one display option this time around, that being a 17.3-inch FHD (1920x1080) 144 Hz IPS panel. MSI states the display covers 45% of the NTSC gamut.
The 2022 Crosshair 17 sports yellow accents across its black chassis, giving it a pop of color. The WASD keys have the same yellow color to highlight them on the keyboard, which features a 99-key rollover and MSI’s Spectrum RGB backlighting.
The Crosshair 17 will ship on February 1st, 2022, starting at US$1649.
