MSI Delta 15: AMD takes the gloves off with the Radeon RX 6700M
On par with the RTX 3070: The RX 6700M in the MSI Delta 15
Nvidia has dominated the laptop high-end segment for a long time. With the Radeon RX 6700M and the Radeon RX 6800M, AMD has finally introduced worthy competitors to the market. We were able to examine the MSI Delta 15 as one of the first laptops to feature the RX 6700M.

Anyone looking for a powerful gaming laptop in 2021 would inevitably have to buy a device with an Nvidia GPU up until now. The GeForce RTX 3060, RTX 3070, and RTX 3080 Ampere chips were the gold standard. With the release of the two Radeon GPUs, the RX 6800M and the RX 6700M, the field has now been properly shaken up. The latter GPU powers the brand-new MSI Delta 15, for example, which we recently subjected to a comprehensive test.
The result: The Radeon RX 6700M is overall roughly on par with the RTX 3070, and it's even powerful enough to take on the RTX 3080 in some cases. The main highlight of the AMD chip is the ample video memory. While the RTX 3070 has to make do with 8 GB, the RX 6700M offers a whole 10 GB, which can already be worthwhile for some games (at least in higher resolutions or quality levels).
On the other hand, there's still some catching up to do in terms of ray tracing performance. AMD currently still has a hard time against the competition in this area. However, the RX 6700M is an ideal gaming companion for users who don't care too much about ray tracing.

I discovered my interest in computers in my childhood, growing up with MS-DOS and Windows 3.1 in the early 1990s. I was especially fascinated with computer games, even from an early age. From Monkey Island through Lands of Lore to Doom, I tried every game I could get my hands on. I have been working for Notebookcheck since 2009 with my focus mostly being on high-performance gaming laptops.

I've been fascinated with technology ever since I got my very first Android smartphone, which was quite a while ago. The power packed into such a small footprint still amazes me. Learning to program made my understanding of technology deeper, and at the same time, it expanded my interest to the area of desktop computers and laptops. All this led me to enjoy reading and watching reviews of new devices, and that's how I stumbled upon Notebookcheck. I immediately found their reviews to be very comprehensive, and luckily, I've even had the chance of translating them since 2019. When it comes to the huge field of technology, I'm currently also interested in specializing in Java programming.
