Xiaomi has mostly reserved the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced update for its top-tier phones globally, with premium phones like the Mi 10T, Mi 11 Ultra, Poco F3, and Mi 11 all getting an early taste of Xiaomi's latest software. That has now changed, starting with the Redmi 9T.
Against all odds, Xiaomi is now providing the Redmi 9T with the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced update, skipping more popular mid-range phones like the Redmi Note 10 and Redmi Note 9 series. The OTA arrives with the build number "MIUI 12.5.2.0 RJQMIXM", showing that it's for the Global model of the phone.
Interestingly, this build also delivers the Android 11 update for the Redmi 9T for the first time. It appears Xiaomi had an earlier Android 11 update for the phone months ago but is now re-releasing it with MIUI 12.5 Enhanced in tow. This update is currently only available for Mi Pilot testers, but should get to the stable beta stage shortly. It weighs in at 828 MB and delivers the September security patch as well.
