M4 Pro, M4 Max-powered MacBook Pro launch date revealed by prominent tipster
Apple has been repeatedly rumored to be gearing up for the launch of its M4-powered Mac lineup. As previous speculation indicated, the MacBook Pro and Mac Mini will be the first Macs to receive the M4 treatment, followed by the MacBook Air and the rest of the Mac lineup next year.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the new MacBook Pro and Mac Mini will be launched on November 1 -- a slight delay from previous expectations which indicated an October launch for the refreshed lineups. While the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros are not expected to feature a redesign, the upcoming Mac Mini has been rumored to be getting a much-needed glow-up, featuring its biggest redesign in over a decade.
Under the hood, the MacBook Pro will most likely be available in a base configuration with the stock M4 SoC, as well as higher-tier configurations with the upcoming M4 Pro and M4 Max SoCs. Not much is known regarding either of these higher-end chips at the moment, but if the 10-core M4 SoC's performance is anything to go by, the M4 Pro and M4 Max will surely bring the heat to the arena, locking horns with the x86 titans.
Interestingly, rumor has it that the base variants of both the MacBook Pro and Mac Mini will feature double the memory, which are now expected to start with 16 GB configurations instead of the shameful 8 GB that Apple has been attempting to get away with for what seems like an eternity now. For the first time in a while, it appears Apple is willing to give its users more bang for their buck, and who wouldn't want that?
