A renowned Apple analyst has had his say on the authenticity of recent MacBook Pro leaks. While various sources doubted their validity, Mark Gurman believes them to be real Apple M4 models that were stolen and then sold in Russia.

Several leaks have shown Apple's next MacBook Pro in the past few weeks. To recap, an unboxing video popped up first before an early test showcased the strength of the Apple M4 chipset when paired with an active cooling solution. In short, it seems that the MacBook Pro with M4 will be much faster than its comparably-equipped iPad Pro sibling (curr. $899 on Amazon).

With that being said, there were doubts about the authenticity of the videos being posted online. On the one hand, Apple rarely suffers from such high-profile leaks. On the other hand, the packaging of the M4 refresh was shown with the same wallpaper as its M3-based predecessor, which set some people's suspicions on high alert.

According to Mark Gurman, these leaks are authentic and do actually show Apple's next-generation MacBook Pro. Reportedly, Apple began distributing all M4 refreshes to warehouses a few weeks ago in time for November shipments. As it stands, the company is expected to unveil new iMac, Mac mini and MacBook Pro hardware during this month's launch event. Given that Apple ceased sales to Russia, it seems that these were stolen laptops that somehow found their way to Russia instead of other European markets.
