Honor reveals launch dates for MagicOS 9.0 and Magic 7 series phones
Chinese juggernaut Honor has revealed when Honor Magic 7 series smartphones as well as the MagicOS 9.0 operating system will finally see the light of day. The company will introduce its latest MagicOS build on October 23 at an event in China. The interface will first appear on the company’s upcoming Magic 7 series smartphones, which will debut on October 30 in China.
To remind you, Honor launched the Magic 6 series and MagicOS 8.0 earlier this year, on January 11th. This time, Honor is launching its next-generation Magic series smartphones and a new OS much earlier than usual.
First, let's talk about MagicOS 9.0. Honor has confirmed a few features of the upcoming OS. AI has been a buzzword for a couple of years now and we have seen AI tricks on almost every flagship smartphone released lately, so Honor's attempts to big its products up with AI-powered features should not come as a surprise to anybody.
MagicOS 9.0 will come with a range of new AI features, including an AI Agent (which Honor showed off at IFA 2024 last month). The Agent is nothing but a personal assistant that's set to compete against the likes of Google Gemini and Apple Intelligence. According to Honor, AI Agent uses language analysis and UI awareness to understand user requests.
Furthermore, Honor has also stated that Magic 7 series devices are set to be unveiled exactly one week after the official launch of MagicOS 9.0. The Weibo tipster hints that the upcoming Magic 7 series is expected to have five models. Ahead of the official launch, several features of the Magic 7 Pro leaked online. The Pro variant is expected to have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4/Elite processor coupled with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Moreover, the smartphone is believed to have 100W fast wired charging, a curved screen, and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor.
There are still two weeks until the official launch of the series. We can expect to learn more details about the Magic 7 series and MagicOS 9.0 in the coming days.
