Lenovo unveils ThinkBook AeroBlade: 14-inch laptop that weighs under 830 grams

Lenovo is currently showcasing Project AeroBlade at IFA 2026, a proof-of-concept 14-inch laptop under 10mm thick and weighing less than 830 grams. Its magnesium-aluminum chassis houses an OLED display, Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 7. Instead of fans, cooling comes from Frore Systems' AirJet technology: solid-state modules that use vibrating membranes to push air silently.

Lenovo frames this as full-performance, fanless computing without any cooling compromises, but some skepticism is always warranted when encountering bold marketing claims. Firstly, AirJet still remains unproven technology despite its debut in 2023; no OEM has yet committed to mass-producing it in a laptop at scale. Secondly, AeroBlade reportedly uses four AirJet Mini modules rated at roughly 7.5W each, theoretically amounting to 30W of cooling. However, our review of a passively cooled mini PC from 2024 found that two active AirJet modules struggled to prevent throttling at 8W despite a stated claim of 10.5W cooling. Even if the company has further refined the technology, it is still a reminder that marketing claims should be taken with a grain of salt.

Lenovo has not attached a price, release date or processor specification to AeroBlade, describing it strictly as a proof-of-concept with no confirmed path to production. Its commercial prospects will depend on whether Lenovo can turn a prototype into a viable, commercial model that offers adequate performance that is, most importantly, paired with an equally adequate cooling system.
