RugOne’s Xsnap 7 Pro: Direct rival to Honor's Robot Phone with detachable camera

RugOne, a subrand of Ulefone that focuses on outdoor phones, is once again pitching the Xsnap 7 Pro, a rugged smartphone built around an unusual detachable action camera. Introduced at MWC 2026 and now on display at IFA, the phone positions modular imaging as a practical alternative to Honor’s Robot Phone, which instead uses a motorized camera mechanism.

The 39-gram cube-shaped, removable camera is said to record up to 2.7K video at 30fps via a 133-degree field of view and includes electronic stabilization. It reportedly operates independently, attaches to wearable or mounted accessories, and is rated for underwater use up to five meters. Moreover, RugOne claims that it comes with 64GB of storage and lasts 40 minutes on a single charge. 
 

The handset itself is specified as having a 6.67-inch, 1.5k, 120Hz AMOLED display with a supposed peak brightness of 1,700 nits, a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 chipset, 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Other reported specs include a 9,300mAh battery, a 50MP main and a 64MP infrared night-vision camera. 

The device is also IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810H certified, meaning that it should be dustproof, waterproof (up to 1.5 m for 30 mins) and be able to survive in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 55°C. As always, only independent testing will determine whether most of RugOne's marketing claims stand up to scrutiny.

The Xsnap 7 Pro is slated to begin crowdfunding on Kickstarter on September 7, with super early-bird pricing starting at €799 (approx. $930). A wider global release is planned for October at €1,099.99 in Europe and $999 in the US.
