Lenovo releases new 14-inch laptop internationally with 120 Hz display and over 50% longer battery life than older model
Lenovo has now released a new model in its expanding IdeaPad Slim 5 series. Unveiled at the start of October, the IdeaPad Slim 5 Ultra 14IWC11 arrives just seven months after Lenovo presented the similar IdeaPad Slim 5 Ultra 14ILL11 (curr. $1,199 on Amazon).
Currently, the new 14-inch laptop can be purchased in Europe, as well as in parts of East Asia and Southeast Asia. Moreover, Lenovo has earmarked the IdeaPad Slim 5 Ultra 14IWC11 as 'coming soon' to Australia and Malaysia, among other markets. However, its PSREF website indicates that the laptop is not coming to North America.
As expected, the IdeaPad Slim 5 Ultra 14IWC11 can be configured with the Core 5 315, Core 5 320 and Core 7 350, as well as 8 GB or 16 GB of LPDDR5X-7467 RAM. According to our benchmarks, only a 5% performance gap exists between these three processors. Even then, this difference can be attributed to clock speeds, with the Core 7 350 peaking at slightly higher than the Core 5 315 or Core 5 320 on its E-cores and P-cores.
Moreover, the IdeaPad Slim 5 Ultra 14IWC11 comes with a choice of two display options; Lenovo's 500-nit and 60 Hz IPS option is missing for now. Instead, one can choose from a 1200p and 60 Hz OLED with 300 nits peak brightness or a 1600p and 120 Hz IPS panel boasting 400 nits peak brightness.
On top of that, the laptop's 65 Wh battery is said to last over 30 hours during 1080p local video playback at 150 nits with an OLED display and 26.1 hours with an IPS alternative. As we have discussed previously, these runtimes give the IdeaPad Slim 5 Ultra 14IWC11 up to a 54% battery life advantage over the IdeaPad Slim 5 Ultra 14ILL11. The latter outperforms the former in our benchmarks, though.
The IdeaPad Slim 5 Ultra 14IWC11 starts at HKD 8,639 in Hong Kong and SGD 1,460 (~$1,139) in Singapore. Meanwhile, the same laptop retails for £910 in the UK and €1,059-€1,090 in the Eurozone. Please see Lenovo's website for more details about its latest 14-inch laptop.
