Per the latest PS5 Pro leak by RedGamingTech, the console could feature an 8-core Zen 2 CPU with clock speeds slightly above 4 GHz, an RDNA 3 GPU with up to 2.8 GHz clock frequency, and 16 GB of 18,000 MT/s GDDR6 memory resulting in memory bandwidth of 587 GB/s. Interestingly, the leaker now alleges a downgrade in the manufacturing process.

Paul Eccleston of RedGamingTech is back at it again with another update for PS5 Pro specifications. The gaming console which Sony has yet to confirm is rumored to incorporate an AMD “Viola” APU with a Ryzen CPU and an RDNA GPU. Per Paul’s previous leaks, the PS5 Pro CPU could be an 8-core Zen 2 part while the RDNA GPU could come with 30 WGP (60 CU).

Although Paul’s latest PS5 Pro specs leak reiterates a lot of his past assertions, the leaker has made a few new claims.

For starters, the leaker suggests that the Viola APU with 8 custom Zen 2 cores will pack a 30 WGP RDNA 3 GPU with 30 out of 32 active WGP (16 WGP per shader array). Interestingly, Paul reports some “Sony custom tech” for the GPU but doesn’t deliver any more details.

When it comes to clock speeds, the PS5 Pro’s GPU reportedly hits a frequency between 2.5-2.8 GHz. However, Paul alleges the CPU to reach “a low 4 GHz” clock speed. The Zen 2 CPU inside the vanilla PS5, as a comparison, has a variable clock speed that only boosts to 3.5 GHz. So even without a jump to newer architectures, the PS5 Pro could still bring a notable CPU performance bump.

Moving on, Sony could pack 16 GB of GDRR6 memory running at 18,000 MT/s, an unspecified amount of DDR5 RAM with 4 GB reserved for the system, and 2x Tempest Engine. For folks who don’t know, the Tempest Engine is Sony’s implementation of a customized AMD RDNA Compute Unit to enable 3D audio on the PS5. So it is easy to assume that the purported inclusion of 2x Tempest Engine could be aimed at taking 3D audio to the next level on the PS5 Pro.

Paul also mentions that the PS5 Pro’s APU is reportedly being manufactured on the TSMC 5 or, more likely, the 6 nm process. This is a regression compared to the leaker’s past assertion of a TSMC 4 or 5 nm process node.

That said, Paul claims the information regarding the DDR5 memory, Tempest Engine, and the exact manufacturing node to be conflicting which means you should take it with a giant grain of salt.
