According to a leak posted on Weibo by a user named 体验more, the OnePlus 13 will ditch the optical fingerprint sensor of the OnePlus 12 for an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, joining the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Pixel 9 Pro as flagships that use a similar sensor.
Compared to optical fingerprint sensors, ultrasonic fingerprint sensors are faster, more secure, and can even work if a user's finger is dirty or wet. However, they are more expensive which brings us to another part of the details revealed in the leak.
The source also revealed that the OnePlus 13 will reportedly cost CNY 5,299 for the 16GB RAM version with 512GB of storage. In comparison, the OnePlus 12 with the same RAM and storage cost CNY 4,799/$900/€1,099/£999 at launch, although Amazon currently has it discounted to $749.99. With all of the upgrades such as the new BOE X2 panel, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition, a bigger battery, and the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, the price increase isn't too surprising.
The OnePlus 13 has also been revealed by the leak to have a 50MP Sony LYT808 primary rear camera, a 50MP Samsung JN5 ultrawide angle camera, and a Sony LYT600 camera with a periscope lens and 3x optical zoom. Its 6,000mAh battery will charge at 100W with a wired charger and 50W with a wireless charger. It will also have a CSA 0916 Turbo Bionic haptic motor, IP68.IP69 dust and water resistance, and a frosted back glass panel in black and white color options.
OnePlus is expected to announce the OnePlus 13 first in China this month before a global launch in the future.
