Germany hit with another OnePlus sales ban after new 5G patent dispute ahead of OnePlus 13 launch

Just months before the anticipated release of the OnePlus 13, the company has hit another roadblock in Germany due to a patent dispute. After recently resolving a two-year battle with Nokia, OnePlus now finds itself entangled in a similar dispute with InterDigital, a wireless technology research firm based in the US. The issue revolves around 5G technology patents, and the whole situation is very similar to the Nokia situation that temporarily halted sales for both OnePlus and its sister brand, Oppo.

At present, OnePlus smartphones are unavailable in the German online store, though other products, such as earbuds and tablets, are still on sale. The company has issued a statement, where it discusses its commitment to intellectual property rights and ongoing negotiations with InterDigital, with the hope of reaching a resolution soon.

However, it is still uncertain when this new conflict will be resolved. The previous patent dispute with Nokia took a whole two years to settle. With the launch of the OnePlus 13 approaching, the company has to be under pressure to find a quicker solution to avoid any further delays.

For now, OnePlus smartphones, like the OnePlus 12R (currently $599.99 on Amazon) can still be purchased in neighboring countries or from local retailers - as per reports - while the company continues to fight for its presence in the German market.
