Leak confirms launch date of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 and multiple new features; 41 mm and 45 mm LTE smartwatches to arrive before the Galaxy Note 20 series
Samsung could be bringing the Galaxy Watch 3 series to market sooner than rumours previously suggested it would. Previously, it had been assumed that the South Korean company would use its next Galaxy UNPACKED event to unveil its latest smartwatches, renders of which we covered yesterday. According to multiple sources, Samsung will host this product launch event on August 5, 2020, where it will also unveil the Galaxy Note 20 series alongside possibly two foldable smartphones.
However, the leaks that Evan Blass presented last week contained a render with the date "WED | 22". According to outlets like Gizchina, dates on Samsung product renders typically correspond with when the company unveils that device. The only twenty-second day of a month before the end of 2020 is in July, so "WED | 22" should refer to July 22.
Please note that Samsung is yet to confirm this date. Additionally, July 22 may just be the date Samsung unveils of the Galaxy Watch 3 and may not necessarily correlate with from when the smartwatches will be orderable. Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Watch 3 in two sizes and in at least three colours. Please see our coverage of the leaks that Evan Blass published last week for a more detailed look at Samsung's upcoming smartwatches.
However, Max Weinbach of XDA Developers believes that Samsung could launch the Galaxy Watch 3 series as early as July 8, with "WED | 22" representing the actual release date of the smartwatches. He also added that new firmware contains references for the Galaxy Watch 3 supporting the following:
- Rich notification icons
- New watch faces
- New weather app
- Outlook replaces Samsung Email
- New Music widget
- Information edges in watch faces
- More customizable faces
