Deal | LG Gram 17 with Core i7 Ice Lake, 16 GB RAM, and 512 GB SSD will be down to $1200 starting March 11
One the lightest 17.3-inch laptops you can get will be $300 cheaper soon. The LG Gram 17 joins the increasingly long list of brand new discounted laptops running on Intel's latest Ice Lake series of processors.
LG announced its refreshed 17.3-inch Gram 17 late last year equipped with the Core i7-1065G7 Ice Lake CPU and up to 24 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM. Much like every other Ice Lake laptop at the time, however, it launched for quite the premium asking price of $1500 USD. At least one retailer will be ready to knock the price down to more reasonable levels starting next week.
Costco will be holding a sale on the Gram 17 beginning on March 11 for a new price of $1200. We're not surprised by the sale all the things considered; Ice Lake laptops like the HP Spectre x360 13, Razer Blade Stealth, and the Microsoft Surface Laptop have all been seeing discounts despite being just a few months old. We suspect that Intel is trying to steal some thunder away from the impending launch of AMD's 7 nm Ryzen 4000U series which will compete directly with Intel's current 10th gen Core U-series family.
The refreshed 2020 Gram 17 sports the same chassis as the 2019 model and so we recommend checking out our existing review here. One of our biggest criticisms about the Gram 17 is its weak graphics performance since the system prioritizes weight over almost everything else. The Core i7 Ice Lake CPU addresses this issue directly as its integrated Iris Plus GPU should be a significant improvement over the outdated UHD Graphics 620.

There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s.
