Jabra is at CES 2019 this year to unveil its new 85h headphones. This new product is enhanced with SmartSound, an AI system commissioned for the brand and based on context intelligence technology from audEERING. It functions to absorb sounds from the user's surroundings and adapts the audio output accordingly. Therefore, the wearer may not find that their 85hs aren't too loud for a quiet indoor area after coming in from a noiser street.
The Jabra 85h headphones also have dedicated mics for active noise cancelling (ANC) and for calls. They also support Amazon Alexa; however, rather than use a specific hardware button to activate this assistant, the 85h device is programmed to initialize it using a specific 'wake word'. This makes headphone controls and other Alexa functions genuinely hands-free.
Jabra claims that the battery found in these new headphones enables up to 32 hours of use per full charge, or 35 with ANC turned off. The 85h on-ear 'phones come in Black, Titanium Black, Gold Beige or Navy color options, each of which has 40-millimeter custom-engineered speakers and IP52 dust and rain resistance. Jabra has stated that they will appear in US and Canada Best Buy stores for pre-order in March 2019, but did not mention more world-wide availability. The 85h headphones will start at a retail price of US$299.
