Imminent release tipped for first-gen tri-fold Huawei smartphone

Huawei CEO Yu Chengdong (or Richard Yu) recently attended a launch event for one of China's growing number of HarmonyOS-powered cars. The executive was pressed for purchase details on the OEM's inaugural tri-folding smartphone by a fellow attendee,

Yu reportedly responded with the phrase "next month", thereby suggesting that the cutting-edge device might be unleashed on the market as soon as September 2024.

Accordingly, it might debut alongside Huawei's upcoming blood pressure-measuring smartwatch, while stealing the thunder of other smartphones such as those of the Mate 70 series in the process.

The advanced mobile device does not seem quite as compact as some of the foldables that almost seem conventional now by comparison, yet also gives the impression of being as thin as possible, especially for a first-gen product with what looks like a full-sized Mate-series camera hump.

On that note, it may or may not debut as the successor to the Xs 2, just with an even larger, possibly ~10-inch, display with extra dimensions of foldability this time around.

Then again, the price of entry for such possibilities might be astronomical, with the latest estimates coming in at a minimum of 20,000 yuan (~$2,800) - perhaps even more than this Intel version of the OLED ThinkPad P16s G2 from Amazon.
