Google Pixel 9 Pro XL ranks 2nd in DxOMark's 'Global' smartphone camera ranking
Google's new Pixel 9 series has introduced a new variant that wasn't present in previous lineups, the Pixel 9 Pro XL. It is essentially identical to the non-XL variant (pre-order at Amazon), but as the name suggests, it has a larger screen. The two even have the same camera setup.
Speaking of which, DxOMark has just published the camera test results of the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. It achieves an overall score of 158 points, making it reside in the 2nd spot in the firm's "Global" ranking. This score is the same as the Honor Magic 6 Pro but is lower than the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, which got 163 points.
DxOMark notes that the phone can offer "exceptional image and video clarity." The firm praises the camera's versatility, making it suitable for various scenarios. Pixel 9 Pro XL is also said to offer reliable autofocus, accurate color reproduction, and a wide dynamic range.
When it comes to videos, DxOMark says that the Pixel 9 Pro XL delivers minimal artifacts and smooth stabilization. Moreover, the phone scores reasonably high in the lowlight sub-category. However, the team notes that the image quality dips slightly between the intermediate zoom levels, but the telephoto can maintain a consistent level of detail throughout the range. The selfie performance of the Pixel 9 Pro XL is also respectable. It achieved 4th spot with a score of 148. In HDR mode, the phone rivals the other top-scoring devices, including the Honor Magic 6 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
