First Google Pixel 9a footage shows full redesign with much earlier release also rumoured

Hardly any time has passed since Google announced its first Pixel 9 series smartphones. In fact, it has only just started shipping the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL (curr. $1,099 on Amazon). By contrast, Pixel 9 Pro Fold pre-orders will not reach consumers until early September in most markets.

In recent months, there has been speculation that the four smartphones introduced this month could be Google's full complement of Pixel 9 series models, with the Pixel 8a serving as a Pixel A series swansong of sorts. However, @VNchocoTaco on X (formerly Twitter) has discovered evidence that contradicts previous suggestions. Not only that, but it appears that Google plans to bring a new design to the Pixel A series with its ninth-generation release.

Unsurprisingly, Google has not officially discussed the Pixel 9a yet. Instead, @VNchocoTaco alleges that the two photos of Pixel 9a shown below were posted to a private Facebook group, the post pertaining to which has now been deleted. Regardless, the images highlight that a full redesign could be in hand, with flat edges, uniform bezels and a near-flush camera housing. Supposedly, the Pixel 9a could arrive this year too, with @VNchocoTaco adding that Google will introduce the device at the 'end of this year'.
