Google Pixel 9a launch window hinted at in latest leaks
We already have a bunch of leaks surrounding the upcoming Google Pixel 9a. Now, a new Android Headlines report hints at a potential release timeframe for the device - March 2025. Usually, Google releases the more affordable variant from its yearly Pixel lineup sometime in May - the Pixel 7a was released on May 11, 2023, whereas the Pixel 8a had a launch date of May 7, 2023. This new leak suggests that Google is targeting an earlier release for its entire lineup, considering the Pixel 9 series was unveiled two months earlier as well.
The past leaks have hinted that the Pixel 9a will feature a slightly tweaked design, setting it apart from its predecessors. New renders from the same source previously revealed that the Pixel 9a will have a flat frame and a pill-shaped camera module, moving away from the center-positioned design seen in the Pixel 8a. This device will be powered by the Tensor G4 chipset, similar to the Pixel 9 series, but with a key difference: it uses an Integrated Package on Package (IPoP) instead of Fan-Out Panel Level Packaging (FOPLP), making it slightly thicker and less power-efficient. The Pixel 9a will also come in four colors—Porcelain, Obsidian, Peony, and Iris—with the latter being an entirely new blue-violet shade.
If this new launch timeline is to be believed, the Pixel 10 will also be released earlier in August 2025. Android 16 is also expected to come out earlier than usual, around Q2 2025, with its AOSP push before the end of June 2025. However, the Pixel update may still coincide with the Pixel 10 launch. More information will hopefully surface soon, but for now, the Pixel 9a launch date news should keep the expectant users satisfied.
